n many ways this seems like a contradiction in terms. However, it cannot be overlooked that the advent of the internet has opened the access into the BDSM community in ways completely incomprehensible just a few years ago. Along with this new technology has come new issues, dangers and problems. In many ways the community itself was completely unprepared for this onslaught. People resist change and push away from things they don't understand. There are generational traditions and elitist attitudes that seperate the 'seasoned or experienced members' from these 'upstart newbies with their upstart ways, ideas and formula's'. Within this formerly unified community we have created a sub-community. One which many people speak of in disdain or contempt.

What Is Crossover?

Crossover is when a dominant gives you orders and you follow them in real life. They can be anything from going to bed at a certain time, to sexual activities and daily rituals.

I have heard of crossover going to the extent of a submissive's day to day life being controlled by a dominant through the computer screen.

Crossover should not start until it has been thoroughly discussed and limits agreed to. Just how far are you willing to follow the orders of someone you have never met? It isn't something that happens in every relationship on IRC but there are many who expect it. So it is a good idea to know what it is and think about what you would feel comfortable with before the situation arises.
